Fun Night
Went out with the DIP gang after a long time. Dinner followed by drinks.
Me,Shilpa,Eric,Agas,Nico,Alvin, his gf and Mery (did I spell it right?) went to Yuki Yaki…a “Do-It-Yourself steamboat, Teppanyaki & Ice Cream Buffet”. Was really awesome I must say and kudos to Agas for finding this place.
The steamboat was a bit of a letdown (except for the cheese filled sausages..yum
), but the teppenyaki (hot plate) was very cool. We had tonnes of meat and fish grilled to perfection by master-chef Eric and asst chef Agastya.
After that, we actually made ice-cream! Pardon my ignorance, but this is the first time I’ve gone to a restaurant where you can actually make icecream yourself on a cold plate (the teppenyaki hot-plate also doubles up for a cold plate for making ice cream
)!!
Making ice-cream is a lot of fun…and hard work too apparently
. We mixed all the flavours we could get our hands on in one go and actually came up with an incredibly good tasting flavour. After that we tried all kinds of random ice-cream experiments…right from watermelon icecream to green tea+durian+papaya chunks icecream. After that…Agas and my mind went into overdrive as we secretly mixed wasabi into the ice-cream mix and managed to fool Eric, Shilpa and Nico into trying the terrible concoction.
Leemei joined us after a while and we had a mini-belated celebration of Eric’s b’day. After that, Leemei, Eric, Shilpa, Agas and I headed to a bar Leemei had suggested: Paulaner Bräuhaus. SK joined us later on over there.
It was a pretty cool bar…nice ambiance and a live band
. We ordered the house pour: Munich Dark beer. Tasted awful..as I’m not too fond of beer at all. The highlight of the night was when Leemei and I wrote a request for the song : Close to you (by The Carpenters) along with the message “Happy Birthday Eric” on the back of a coaster and passed it to a waitress. Soon after, one of the hot singers on stage (whom we thought was part Chinese and part Indian), called out Eric’s name…called him on stage to sing, dance and down one entire mug of beer in 12 seconds
. Eric did not disappoint but became rather sick from too much beer.
Unfortunately for him he kept losing at a drinking game we were playing (I forgot what its called) and continued to get more and more sick
. We came back soon after.
Watched Field of Dreams…was a pretty good movie…though I think its been really over-hyped on imdb.
And looking back at this post…I just realized how BAD my writing skills have actually become. I just managed to make a fun night sound 100 times less interesting than it actually was.
Ah well…I’m sleepy and can hardly see the screen.
