Rants and Relaxation
This post is gonna be a tad on the long side.
On Saturday afternoon, I woke up from the best dream I’ve ever had. I dreamt about having long conversations on the beach with Yoko Kanno. We talked about movies, music and in the dream, she asked me to sing for her next album. Needless to say, I woke up with a big fat smile on my face.

Had lunch at my senior’s place. His wife asked me if I liked spicy or non-spicy food, to which, pat came the reply from my senior: “Arrey bachelor hai. Sab kuchh kha jayega. (He’s a bachelor. He’ll eat everything)” Very aptly put indeed…kyunki mei sub kuchh kha gaya (because I indeed ate everything)…haha!! And my oh my, was it delicious or what! Home cooked food is aces in my book on any given day.
After the filling lunch (filling being an understatement), I met up with Shanty, Pari, Avi and Praneeth for bowling at Kallang. Luck wasn’t on our side because 16 out of the 22 friggin lanes were booked by City Harvest church. Amidst the irritatingly uplifting Christian music blaring at full volume throughout the bowling alley, Pari’s squabbles with the hyperventilating lady at the main counter and some God awful commentary in the background by a very very irritating host…we somehow managed to form rational thoughts and decided to ditch the fucking bowling plan and go somewhere else instead.
And like all legendary night outs, this night out too was on the verge of becoming a major flop show just before we decided to go to Clarke Quay. On the way there we changed our minds and went to Durty Nelly’s instead. If there are 2 pubs in Singapore that we really patronize…one is Durty Nelly’s and the other one is Cafe Iguana (both being awesome pubs in their own rights. Cafe Iguana was the New Year’s Eve pub btw).
That’s where the real fun began
! Pari and I got drunk.
Wait…you heard that right!
I GOT DRUNK
!!
YESH!! For some reason my alcohol threshold took a fucking nosedive for the better and I got high on a few measly pints of Cider and a shot of Sambuca. Maybe it was the ciggies too (note to self…smoke ONLY when drinking).
Needless to say, lots of random and meaningless discussions ensued. Including Pari’s bullardy awesome theory on why everything in life changes, except for chocolates! Patil landed from his flight from Thailand and joined us directly! It was really awesome. At around 2 we headed to Makansutra to eat. Patil actually dragged his luggage all the way there. I think at some point I went out by myself, got lost and peed on…err never mind. In my defense, I was high and I was searching for a tree…so I had to make do with whatever I could find since there were no trees nearby.

Anyway, I woke up today after a terrible dream about me losing my job and having to PLAN my finances because of that. Nightmarish stuff!
Enjoyed a nice relaxing lunch date to shake off that stupid dream. Nothing serious…yet. Sometimes I have a tough time deciding whether to keep things serious or not. Was good fun nonetheless. After the date, I went to the city and roamed around aimlessly. Bothered people on SMS and saw the new mall at Bugis: Illumina or something.
Amidst my wandering, I had more soul food at Soup Spoon. If you’ve followed this blog, then you’ll know that this isn’t the first time I’m mentioning that place. Anyway, the tangy tomato with basil leaves soup was tantalizingly tasty. That and the roast beef wasabi sandwich (my personal favourite) made me so giddy with joy that I almost felt as if I was floating 2 inches above my seat.
Came back home after some more wandering and a bit of shopping. Now I’m sitting on my chair, listening to Yoko Kanno and sipping on some Welch’s Grape Juice as I’m thinking of ways to plan an unplanned upcoming weekend.
Benedictions
!
P.S: Shanty made up a new word: Bullardy! It shall be a part of my bullardy vocabulary from this day forth.
