Longer cigarettes

Today, I changed the rating for “The Predatory Wasp of the Palaside Walls” by Sufjan Stevens from 3 stars to 5 on my iPod.
The song started at the exact moment when I stepped through the parking lot between my block and the one next to mine and looked up at the night sky. It wasn’t the ugly red that I see in Singapore usually, but was instead a beautiful and soothing black, with a few stars sprinkled here and there.
And at that time I wished for a moment that my cigarette never end, so that I could just stand in the cool breeze and stare at that sky forever and not have to go...
A Cowboy Bebop Music Box
Posted by The big poobah in Anime, Featured Articles, Personal shit, Yoko Kanno on August 26, 2009 | 3 Comments
Its the middle of the week, and its kind of random, but I thought I’d blog about a particular thing that I really really want to own.
If you’ve ever watched Cowboy Bebop and you remember the very first scene…then you’d remember a very cute tune playing on a music box. Its a music box version of the song Adieu, composed by Yoko Kanno and is called Memory.
So what I want is this…a wind-up music box that can play that tune. You have no idea how indebted I’d be to anyone who finds that for me. I’ve wanted a music box like that ever since I first heard that...
A weekend of changes
Posted by The big poobah in Personal shit on August 22, 2009 | No Comments
A lot of stuff has transpired over the past two weekends. In fact, if you were to consider all the small little things happening here and there as variables to a larger equation, then this weekend would be a product of all that.
Basically, this weekend shall be a weekend of many changes. Only time will tell whether they’re for the better or for the worse.
That aside, what started off as a horrible Friday, with me getting drenched from head to toe waiting for a cab to go to the Japanese embassy, only to find that they accepted Visa applications in the morning…ended on a nice note. Alcas,...

Yesterday, Pari and I went to the Keane concert at Fort Canning Park. I got off work early, Pari got off work REALLY early and we both reached there at around 5:30pm. I had bought the tickets a really long time back, so we had VIP tickets with special entry and shit !
Anyway, when we reached, we were horrified to see a queue of 15 people.
15 people only??! Out of embarrassment, we actually made an about-turn and marched to the Singapore Museum nearby (which actually turned out to be a very cool discovery for us,come to think of it) to pass some time.
We returned at 6. The crowd of 15 had grown...

Weddings and Night Outs

I attended my first wedding in Singapore yesterday. James, one of my LEAP mates got married to his secondary school sweetheart at the M Hotel. Although I was rather quieter than usual, I was secretly enjoying myself. Watching two people who’ve been together for 11 years and getting married finally makes you feel a little warm and mushy inside .
I guess they’re very lucky to have found each other when they were so young. James gave a speech in Mandarin later on and even though I couldn’t understand a word of it, it was undoubtedly very emotional.
I also unexpectedly ran into one...
