Dec27 2009
2009 was definitely a Year of Sowing Wild Oats.
And oats were certainly sown by the truckloads. A lot of things happened this year. Both good and bad. But the good things far outweigh the bad. In fact, when I think of 2009, I can only think of the good things. Let’s do a comparision then:
|
The Good |
The Bad |
The Weird |
| Moved the fuck on! | My first smoke, followed by many many more | Confusion |
| Got drunk enough to forget what happened the night before (the night before being 31st Jan 2008) | Put on more weight | Multiple ‘friends with benefits’ and meaningless relationships and then abruptly ending them all myself |
| Bought my juggernaut of a computer (after waiting for 5 years) | The events that unfolded on National Day and resulted in the creation of the “Tainted Playlist” | Reduction in tolerance for alcohol (probably because of the smokes) |
| Became colder and more emotionless | Became colder and more emotionless | Became colder and more emotionless |
| My first cigar | Resurfacing of temper (although it only happened the one time) | |
| My first credit card (also my biggest mistake of 2009,hehe) | ||
| This website |
||
| Went to my first concert (and boy was it memorable) | ||
| iPhone 3GS (need I say more?) | ||
| My Japan trip (the best decision I’ve made in the 23 years of my life) | ||
| Started reading books again | ||
| Re-established old friendships | ||
| New friends |
||
| Bought my first painting from Deviantart (after being a member for 7 or more years!) |
It was basically one of those years where I decided to make it as awesome as possible. And guess what? It fucking worked!
Ofcourse, not everything was smooth sailing. My Japan trip seemed pretty much cursed from the word go. Friends cancelling, then changing their minds and then cancelling again a few days before the trip. Complete changes to my itinerary. Trying to get travel packages 3 days before my flight. Travelling alone. Trying to find travel buddies. Dad, colleagues, friends discouraging me from going there alone. Reading my Japan travel book frantically at work so that I could come up with some semblance of an itinerary. Booking my hostels,temples,hotels,capsule hotels 2 days before my flight.
And then, with a nervous smile, boarding my flight to Japan.
And what a trip it was! It taught me a few very important lessons…
1. Never count on anyone but yourself
2. Carpe motherfucking diem!
3. Never, ever compromise on your dreams
In fact, there was just so much going wrong before that trip. Luckily I had atleast some friends who kept telling me to fuck everything else and just go and have a blast. You know who you are. Thank you
!
In any case, 2009 was a great year for me. And although it saddens me that it’s coming to an end now, there’s still 2010 to look forward to and to make sure that it is, if not 10 times better, then at least as awesome as this year was!
yay
happy new year!
